Explosion in E. Baghdad - April 2003
This image of an explosion in the Eastern Suburbs of Baghdad was fortuitously collected by DigitalGlobe's Quickbird satellite on April 9, 2003.
Using visible reference points on the image released by DigitalGlobe, it became possible to locate the site of the explosion on other imagery of Baghdad.
No further information is available about the nature of the building targeted or about the munition(s) used in this explosion. The explosion does appear, however, to be taking place in a residential area.
