Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam
Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam is located in the Nothern Laghman Province. There is a PRT that is located at Mehtar Lam, that coordinates a wide variety of reconstruction project in Laghman province including a flood wall in the village of Kandah, training and mentoring the ANP and initiating a Small Rewards Program (SRP) that pays residents for any ordinance that they turn in. On August 9th, 2007 the Mehtar Lam PRT signed a $300,000 contract for the construction of a new Tuberculosis Clinic to be built on the FOB, since the next closest TB clinic was in Jalalabad the PRT felt that a new clinic could better serve the people of Laghman more quickly and effectively.
As of August, 2007 the 1st Battalion, 158th Infantry Regiment, a Arizona National Guard unit was stationed at Mehtar Lam conducting patrols day and night looking for Taliban and Al Qaida and their IED factories hidden in caves and compounds of the Alishang valley.
