102nd Fighter Wing [102nd FW]
The mission of 102nd Fighter Wind is to provide a ready, fully capable fighting force prepared to employ wherever needed.
The 102nd Fighter Wing deployed more than 300 personnel in early 1999 for six weeks to Incirlik AB, Turkey, as part of Operation Northern Watch, enforcing the northern no-fly zone over Iraq.
About 300 members of the Air National Guard's 102nd Fighter Wing were scheduled to deploy in late 2000 as part of Operation Southern Watch, enforcing the no-fly zone in southern Iraq.
In its 2005 BRAC Recommendations, DoD recommended to close Otis ANGB, MA. The 102d Fighter Wing's F-15s would be distributed to the 125th Fighter Wing, Jacksonville International Airport Air Guard Station, FL (three aircraft), and 177th Fighter Wing, Atlantic City International Airport Air Guard Station, NJ (12 aircraft).
