Peru
During the mid-1960's the CIA secretly aided the government of Peru in its fight against rebel guerrilla forces. The agency flew in arms and other equipment. Local Peruvian troops were trained by personnel of the Special Operations Division of the CIA as well as by Green Beret instructors loaned by the U.S. Army. Because of the assistance the Peruvian Government was soon able to crush the revolt against it.
