The “Zhuhai No.1” remote sensing micro-satellite constellation is the main component of the “Satellite Spatial Information Platform” project of Zhuhai Orbit Control Engineering Co., Ltd. It was included in the 2016 major construction project by Guangdong Province and is also included in the key support of the National Development and Reform Commission. Supported military and civilian integration and "One Belt, One Road" major projects. Both of these first-generation satellites were developed by Aerospace Oriental Satellite Satellite Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. They use the mature “micro-nano satellite product system” platform, which has the characteristics of high integration, light weight and low cost.
Initially, "Zhuhai One" achieved 12 satellites in orbit, which contains 8 hyperspectral satellites in multi-orbit network operation. It is an important member of the global hyperspectral satellite family and the only commercial hyperspectral satellite constellation. The constellation is a main component of Orbit’s "Satellite Space Information Platform", a military-civilian integration project supported by the Special Fund of the National Development and Reform Commission, and a major construction project in Guangdong Province.
It fills the gap in China's commercial aerospace hyperspectral field, and the company has become a global player. It has the backbone enterprise with the largest number of hyperspectral satellites in orbit and the strongest hyperspectral satellite data service capabilities. Since 2014, under the guidance of the national "military-civilian integration" strategy and the national commercial aerospace development policy, Zhuhai Orbit Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. has formulated the strategy of building a "satellite space information platform" based on a satellite constellation, and has initiated investment in the construction of the "Zhuhai One The “No.” remote sensing satellite constellation project includes the manufacture and launch of 34 remote sensing satellites, the construction of ground receiving stations, satellite big data centers, and satellite big data industry incubation parks.
The "Satellite Space Information Platform" based on the "Zhuhai No. 1" remote sensing micro-nano satellite constellation built by Orbit is a satellite measurement and control/receiving network composed of satellite ground stations in Zhuhai, Mohe, Shihezi, Guiyang, Shanghai, Qingdao, etc.; by Zhuhai A satellite big data storage/processing/distribution network composed of data centers in Guiyang, Shanghai, Qingdao, and Macau. After the "satellite space information platform" is completed, it will have the ability to complete global observations every 2 days or so. OVS-1A and 1B signed a research and development contract in December 2015, which was completed in one year. The satellite is a video imaging satellite that can achieve large-scale side sway and fast gaze. The single satellite has a mass of 55kg and an optical resolution of 1.98m. It has two working modes: gaze video and strip imaging. The admission is fully qualified after functional performance testing, and will be delivered to Obit Control Engineering Co., Ltd. after the on-orbit test is normal after launch.
The "Zhuhai No. 1" satellite constellation will consist of dozens of remote sensing micro-satellite satellites, including video micro-nano satellites, hyperspectral micro-nano satellites and SAR satellites, thus forming a high-temporal resolution remote sensing micro-satellite constellation. The constellation is expected to be deployed and deployed within the next two to three years.
After the completion of the "Zhuhai No. 1" satellite constellation equipped with three types of sensor loads such as hyperspectral camera, visible light camera, radar, etc., will be able to obtain hyperspectral data, visible light image data, visible light video data and radar imaging data, all day Remote sensing data is acquired in an all-weather, all-weather, and barrier-free manner, forming an all-weather ground observation capability. This can provide multiple types of remote sensing data for the same observation object, enabling all-round accurate remote sensing.
The "Zhuhai No.1" constellation is the first high-temporal resolution remote sensing micro-satellite constellation invested and operated by private listed companies in China. The first two satellites launched in June 2017 were video imaging satellites. The mass of a single satellite was 55kg, and the optical resolution reached 1.98m. Jiang Xiaohua, director and executive deputy general manager of Zhuhai Orbit Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd., told reporters that at present, the two satellites are in good working condition, about 15 laps around the earth every day. The "Zhuhai No. 1" constellation planned to launch another 10 satellites in 2018, and 34 satellites are scheduled to be launched by the end of 2019. By then, the effects of the satellite big data service industry will be further highlighted. In March 2018, the company planned to launch "one arrow and five stars", including a second-generation video micro-nano satellite, 4 hyperspectral micro-nano satellites. The year's second launch was about in July and August 2018, and it would also launch "one arrow and five stars."
At 11:00 on 15 June 2017, China’s first high-spatial-temporal resolution remote sensing micro-nano satellite constellation "Zhuhai One" invested and operated by a private enterprise The first two satellites, OVS-1A and OVS-1B, were launched on the Jiuquan Satellite on the Long March 4 carrier rocket. The two first-launch satellites are both video imaging satellites, which can image major cities and more than 85% of the population in the world, and will provide products such as video and image data captured by satellites.
On September 2, 2019, the Chinese private aerospace company Zhuhai Orbit Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. announced that the company’s "Zhuhai One" remote sensing micro-nano satellite constellation 03 group of 5 satellites has completed all development, assembly and testing tasks, It was planned to use the Long March 11 solid carrier rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in mid-to-late September.
Two OVS-1 video satellites spatial resolution is 1.98m, the ground height is 530km, the mass is 50kg, the imaging range is 8.1km×6.1km, the video can be shot for up to 90s, and the orbit is 43°.
One OVS-2 video satellite : the spatial resolution is 0.9m, the height above the ground is 500km, the mass is 90kg, the imaging method can be divided into video and image, the video imaging range: 4.5 km × 2.7km, the video can be taken up to 120s, image imaging The range is 22.5km×2500km, and the orbit is 98°. 4 OHS hyperspectral satellites spatial resolution is 10m, the ground clearance is 500km, the mass is 67kg, the imaging range is 150km×2500km, the number of spectral bands is 32, the spectral resolution is 2.5nm, the spectral range is 400nm-1000nm, and the orbit is 98°.
On June 15, 2017, the first "Zhuhai No. 1" 01 group of two video satellites (OVS-1A, OVS-1B) was successfully launched, which opened the prelude to the launch and operation of satellite constellations by private listed companies in China.
On April 26, 2018, 5 satellites of the 02 group of "Zhuhai No. 1" were successfully sent into the predetermined orbit by the Long March 11 solid carrier rocket using the "one arrow and five stars" method. Two of the hyperspectral satellites were named "Guiyang No. 1" satellite and "Qingke University No. 1" satellite.
On December 17, 2018, the "China Commercial Aerospace Hyperspectral Satellite Data First Conference" was held in Beijing, and the "Zhuhai One" commercial aerospace hyperspectral satellite data was released for the first time. The 7 satellites of "Zhuhai-1" are operating normally in orbit, covering the world every 5 days on average, and its data application will usher in a new era of quantitative remote sensing in China.
At 14:42 on September 19, 2019, 5 satellites of the 03 group of "Zhuhai One" were successfully launched into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center by the Long March 11 Yaoqi solid carrier rocket. The 03 satellites include 4 hyperspectral satellites and 1 0.9m resolution video satellite. Among them, the hyperspectral satellite has a spatial resolution of 10m and a spectral resolution of 2.5nm. It has 256 bands and a width of 150km. It is the largest hyperspectral satellite in China. This launch completed the networking of 8 hyperspectral satellites in the "Zhuhai No. 1" satellite constellation, which can cover the world in 2 and a half days and revisit specific areas in 1 day. The total amount of data collected throughout the year is 7.15PB. Hyperspectral collection The data covers an area of 21,880 million square kilometers, which greatly improves the constellation's ability to collect remote sensing data.

Beijing Zhongke Aerospace Exploration Technology Co., Ltd. (“ Zhongke Aerospace ” ) and Zhuhai Orbit Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. (“Orbit” ) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Zhuhai in September 2021. According to the cooperation agreement, the two parties also plan to carry out joint "star and arrow' [spacecraft and rocket] design, joint operation and satellite launch, and jointly cooperate on the construction of the "Zhuhai No. 1" remote sensing satellite constellation. The 4 hyperspectral satellites of "Zhuhai No. 1" are important members of the 25 hyperspectral satellite family in the world, and are also the only commercial hyperspectral satellite that has completed launching and networking in China. Its characteristic hyperspectral data is of world-class level. The ability to accurately and quantitatively analyze vegetation, water bodies, oceans and other ground features has been used in military-civilian integration, natural resource monitoring, environmental protection monitoring, marine monitoring, crop area statistics, production estimation, insurance pricing and claims, emergency management, urban planning, and major projects Demonstration applications in monitoring and other fields have fully demonstrated the advantages of satellite quantitative remote sensing, and have been well received by many users in the military, government, and industry. For example, in the statistics of corn planting area in Guizhou Province, the statistics of cotton planting area in Xinjiang, and the classification of crops in Xiong'an New Area, the accuracy is more than 90%.
"Video satellites can make qualitative observations on the ground, know what is being shot, and hyperspectral satellites can do quantitative analysis." It is understood that the satellites launched in 2018 are different from the two satellites launched before. The resolution of the two satellites launched in 2017 was 1.98m. The resolution of the satellite launched in 2018 can reach 0.9m, and the shooting picture will be clearer.
According to reports, the "Zhuhai No. 1" constellation can collect visible light image and video, hyperspectral image, SAR synthetic aperture radar image and other types of massive remote sensing data in the world, and receive high processing after receiving and processing by the ground operation center. Value satellite digital data products are widely used in land, forestry, water, marine, agriculture, housing construction, planning, transportation, meteorology, environmental protection and other fields.
