Base 26 Xian Satellite Monitor and Control Center (XSCC) is located at Weinan, some 60 kilometers northeast of Xian. The Xian Center is the primary satellite control facility in China. Among its responsibilities are the recovery of retrievable imagery intelligence satellite which are commanded to return to Chinese territory. A Peoples Liberation Army unit carries out the recovery tasks at the Recovery Measuring Station at the Xian.
