MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The newly-built Vostochny space center in Russia's Far East will eventually have three launch pads, including one for super-heavy class space rockets, Russia's Energia Space Corporation said Tuesday.
"The existing launch pad has been built to launch Soyuz-family rockets, the second pad will be built to accommodate Angara-A5V heavy class rockets, while the third pad is expected to accommodate super-heavy class rockets," Energia's President Vladimir Solntsev said.
Russia carried out a maiden space launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome on April 28. It involved a Soyuz-2.1a light class space rocket with three research satellites.
