
India Launches Satellite to Join Indian Regional Navigational System

India successfully launched into orbit the IRNSS-1F satellite, the sixth one to join the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS), the Indian Space Research Organization said in a statement on Thursday.
NEW DELHI (Sputnik) – The launch of India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C32) with the spacecraft atop has been carried out at 10:31 GMT from the Satish Dhawan Space Center at the Sriharikota Island in the southern part of the country.
'PSLV C32/ IRNSS 1F: PSLV C32 Successfully Launches IRNSS 1F into the orbit,' the statement reads.
The IRNSS system is expected to comprise seven satellites to provide high-precision navigation service to users in the region. In December, Minister of Atomic Energy and Space Department Jitendra Singh said India planned to complete the launch of remaining IRNSS satellites by March 31, 2016.
