European missile shield to increase, has anti-Russian potential - ministry

The European elements of the United States national missile defense system are aimed against Russia and their potential will only grow over time, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation Sergei Koshelev told reporters.
'Several recent statements by senior alliance officials have only reinforced our certainty that the US missile defense system and NATO have anti-Russian potential, which will grow more and more over time,' he told reporters on Tuesday.
'It has to be acknowledged that our NATO partners are effectively refusing from an expert dialogue on missile defense by replacing it with general political slogans,' Koshelev added.
The subject of the missile shield in Europe could be touched upon during the international security conference in Moscow on May 23-24, he also said.
'As regards the subject of the European missile shield at the conference, we have no strict limits, let alone restrictions, on attendees' speeches. If some expert wants to express his view on this problem, we shall give him such an opportunity. Our views on the European missile shield have not changed, so there is no point in reiterating them at the conference.
'The US and NATO's missile defense program continues being implemented and is anti-Russian,' Koshelev said, Interfax reports.
