Russian Proton-M Puts Military Satellite into Orbit

MOSCOW, March 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Space Forces launched a Proton-M carrier rocket with a Cosmos class military satellite on board on Friday, spokesman Lt. Col. Alexey Zolotukhin said.
"The rocket put the Cosmos-series military satellite into the designated orbit at 09.49 pm Moscow time (05.49 GMT)," Zolotukhin said.
The official said that the launch was overseen by the Aerospace Defence Forces.
Russia reportedly operates a constellation of 60 to 70 military satellites with reconnaissance, missile early warning and other capabilities.
