Satellite ‘Promise of Science, Industry’ put on orbit successfully: Defense Min

Tehran, Feb 3, IRNA -- Defense Minister, General Ahmad Vahidi, said here on Friday that the fully-indigenous satellite ‘Promise of Science and Industry’ as a brilliant achievement in the field of space technology was put on orbit successfully.
According to a report by the ministry’s Defense Propagation Department, he added that Aerospace Industry Organization (AIO) institutionalized launch of various types of satellites by successfully putting into orbit the satellites ‘Omid’, ‘Rasad’ and ‘Promise of Science and Industry’.
He further noted that more brilliant accomplishments will be achieved in the field in a not-too-distant future.
Vahidi hailed cooperation between the Aerospace Organization and the universities and hoped that the trend will continue.
Designing and building of the stations used in the process were fully made by the Iranian experts, he said.
Head of the Aerospace Organization Hamid Fazeli earlier told IRNA that it is a remote-testing satellite which would film from the earth with higher precision.
Weighing 50 kilograms, the satellite which is a micro-type one, has different applications in various fields such as meteorology, management of natural disasters and measuring the temperature and humidity of air, he noted.
The satellite was built by the students of Sharif University of Technology under supervision of Doctor Hossein Bolandi, a member of the High Council of Space.
