Turkey opposed to missile shield plan against Iran

Istanbul, Nov 7, IRNA -- Turkey’s public TV declared on Saturday that Ankara is opposed to using NATO missile shield plan against its neighbors, especially Iran.
President Abdullah Gul and other senior officials discussed country’s policy concerning NATO missile shield plan on Saturday.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul and Army Chief of Staff General Isik Kosanar as well as other senior officials were present.
The TV network “ TRT” added that Turkey is opposed to using the system against its neighbors, especially Iran.
Another subject discussed in the meeting was relations between NATO and European Union.
Existing dispute between Turkey, member of NATO, and Greek part of Cyprus , which is a member of EU, has caused problems in security ties between NATO and EU.
