Iran's first astronaut in space in 7 years- President
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Hamedan, Aug 5, IRNA -- Iran will send its first astronaut to space in 1396 (2017), President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday in this western provincial capital city.
Speaking with local media here, President Ahmadinejad said Iran’s presence in space would indicate the country's dominance in the field of space science.
Referring to uselessness of West's sanctions against Iran, President Ahmadinejad said, "The word 'sanction' is meaningless to the Iranians."
He further stated that the Iranian nation has changed santions into opportunities.
The Iranian President is on visit to Hamedan since Wednesday to pay his third round of provincial tours in that province.
