
Thales Alenia Space statement concerning the Eutelsat W2 satellite

Cannes, January 28, 2010 – The W2 satellite operated by Eutelsat Communications experienced an anomaly during the evening of January 27, 2010.
The satellite was placed in secure standby mode so that Thales Alenia Space could carry out all required investigative steps in conjunction with its customer, Eutelsat.
Launched in October 1998, the satellite was built using an SB3000 platform, and carries a payload comprising 24 Ku-band transponders.
