Iran attends APSCO meeting in China

Beijing, Dec 17, IRNA -- A number of Iranian officials attended the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) meeting that started its work officially here Thursday morning.
Iran, China, Pakistan, Thailand, Mongolia, Bangladesh and Peru are the current official members of the APSCO while Turkey, Iraq, Malaysia and Indonesia are waiting to join the organization.
APSCO has evolved from Asia Pacific Multilateral Cooperation in Space Technology and Applications (AP-MCSTA), which came into being when a MoU was signed between China, Pakistan and Thailand in 1992.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the APSCO founders.
The organization is focused on space science, technology and its applications, education, training and cooperative research to promote peaceful use of outer space in the region.
