
Thales Alenia Space to cooperate with JSC-ISS of Russia for Telkom-3 satellite

Cannes, March 11, 2009 - Thales Alenia Space announces a contract with JSC "ISS - Reshetnev Company" (formerly NPO-PM) to supply the Telkom-3 communications satellite payload. ISS, prime contractor, is building the satellite for Indonesian operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk, the largest full information and communications (InfoCom) service and network provider in Indonesia.
ISS serves as the prime contractor providing its Express-1000H platform and Thales Alenia Space as communications payload supplier. The satellite will be integrated and tested in ISS premises, Russia.
Stated for launch in 2011, Telkom-3 will also expand the operator's capacity from 118°E orbital location in C-band and will offer new transponders in Ku-band with three coverages over South East Asia for DTH and GSM/Internet backhaul services.
The satellite's total mass at launch will be approximately 1.6 tons and the payload power about 5.6 kW. Telkom-3 will carry 32 C-band and 10 Ku-band transponders.
This additional contract is one more time the result of the long-time successful cooperation between Thales Alenia Space and ISS which have developed an attractive solution for the medium size telecommunication satellite addressing a wider range of needs worldwide.
