Thales Alenia Space España contributed to 17 out of 49 satellites launched in 2008

Madrid, January 19, 2009 - Thales Alenia Space España, Thales Alenia Space's Spanish subsidiary, supplied Active and Passive Radiofrequency communication, digital electronic and data handling units, subsystems and equipment for the main satellite programs launched in year 2008: Star One C2, Amos-3, Turksat 3A, Skynet 5C, SAR-Lupe 4 and 5, Superbird-7, AMC21, Astra 1M, Hot Bird 9, W2M, Ciel-2, Jason-2, Theos 1, Ibex, ATV Jules Verne, Giove-B, among others.

Thales Alenia Space España has an industrial site in Tres Cantos, Madrid, devoted to the development, manufacture, integration and testing of subsystems and equipment for TTC communications, Passive Radiofrequency, on-board Regenerative Processing, on-board Data Handling and Optical payload electronics.
With 20 years of experience in space programs, Thales Alenia Space España to date has provided over 3100 satellite's equipment embarked onboard of 130 satellite programs, both for civilian and military uses with application in telecommunications and navigation, radar and optical observation, space science and space infrastructure. Some of the equipment embarked are dedicated to the spacecraft control and data communications from Earth stations, other to perform broadband multimedia DVB advanced communications, and other to the processing of the information received from the on-board scientific instruments.
The Spanish subsidiary is at the forefront of space technology and Thales Alenia Space's excellence centre for the development and supply of advanced telecom repeaters and subsystems, Radio communications for space systems and medium resolution Optical payloads.
