SSL awards TTC Communication Subsystem & Ku-Band Passive RF devices for the Hispasat 1E satellite

Madrid, October 20, 2008 - Space System Loral (SS/L) company has selected to Thales Alenia Space España, a Thales Alenia Space' subsidiary company, as main contractor to provide of the Ku-Band TTC Communication Subsystems and Passive Radiofrequency devices for the Hispasat-1E communication satellite.

Thales Alenia Space España's contract role comprises of the Design, Manufacturing, Integration, Testing and delivery of the Ku-Band TTC Communication subsystem to provide Telemetry, Tracking and Command signals communication between Earth and the spacecraft; and the Ku band Input Multiplexer IMUXs equipment required to divide the incoming broadband signal to separate individual channels.

The Hispasat 1E, is scheduled for launch in 2010, will be capable of operating up to 53 Ku-band transponders and is based on SS/L's FS1300 platform. The spacecraft will be located at 30° west to expand Hispasat's coverage in Europe, the Americas, and North Africa.

Thales Alenia Space España, has provided advanced multimedia regenerative communication payload, subsystems and equipment for the following Hispasat' satellites: Hispasat 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, Amazonas, and contributes on the current on-going Amazonas-2 and AG1 satellites.
