Iran-Rocket-Hosseini
Iran's satellite is for scientific, commercial and research purposes, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said on Tuesday.
"The research rocket, Explorer, is gathering information in preparation for sending satellite into the space."
He made the remarks commenting on function of the Iranian Omid satellite due to be put into orbit after launching two more explorers in near future.
President mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the large convention at Azadi Square that the Explorer 1 has worked successfully and Iran will launch two more explorers ahead of sending the indigenous Omid Satellite.
"Making those comments roots from political hostility of the US officials towards Iran and is a worthless move," Hosseini said in reaction to the US concern about Explorer 1 launched last week.
The research rocket was launched into orbit on February 4, by the order of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to mark the inauguration on the same day of Iran's first terminal which was established by Iranian aerospace scientists.
Hosseini also rejected other reports linking the launch of the Explorer-1 to a row between Russia and US over the latter's plans to set up a missile shield in eastern Europe.
"Delegating the question of deterrence between the two powers (US and Russia) to a third country is according to the strategists an unrealistic and completely fabricated measure," said the spokesman.
He stressed that launching of the Explorer-1 was a move made in line with the recent achievements of Iran's aerospace scientists.
Hosseini noted entering the crucial stage of aerospace achievements by Iran was not only a threat for the world but it is a chance for establishing better interaction with other countries in the field of aerospace activities.
