US missile defence shield plan in East Europe a military adventurism: Spokesman

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said the US missile defence shield plan in the Eastern Europe is a military adventurism which is based upon illogical, unrealistic and vague explanations and in contradiction with international efforts to decrease and control armaments.

Speaking to IRNA Monday evening, Hosseini said implementing the plan will revive dangerous arms competitions, causing trouble in international order and balance among states, insecurity in Europe and waste of human and material resources.

The spokesman said the claim on Iran's missile threat against Europe is 'funny' adding, "European countries are among Iran's biggest trade partners and we have political, economic and cultural ties with them."

He urged neighboring countries to consider the principle of good neighborly relations and Iran's sensitivities in their political and security interaction with a third country and not to victimize their own long term regional and world interests for dangerous adventurism.
