
LOCKHEED MARTIN WINS $408 MILLION SATELLITE SUPPORT CONTRACT
Engineering, development and sustainment to US Air Force space program
SANTA MARIA, CA, April 7th, 2006 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] won a cost plus award contract worth up to $408 million over 10 years to provide a broad array of satellite and missile systems support to the US Air Force.
Integrated Systems & Solutions Executive Vice President Dr. Stanton D. Sloane said, “This contract is one more example of the trust and faith our customer has in our ability to provide the best solutions for their space and missile program. Without question our past performance and continued excellence were compelling components of the award.”
Ralph Tourino, Vice President, IS&S Space Support & Global Strike explained some of the contract elements, “The Air Force selected us to provide support for space and missile research, which includes test and evaluation from development through initial operation. We will operate experimental and demonstration satellites and missiles and act as the focal point and center of this expertise for the Department of Defense.”
The US Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base noted in the contract announcement, the services include support for satellite operation complexes in Colorado, New Mexico, and California and “deployed locations around the world.”
The contract period is for an initial five years with five one-year options on indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity with follow-on engineering and operation services for engineering, development, and sustainment.
