Khatami stresses key role of spatial data in national development

President Mohammad Khatami here Sunday in a message addressed to a geomatic conference said that the spatial data plays a key role in materializing the 20-year national vision plan and the general policies of the fourth development plan (2005-2010) as a pre-requisite to the relevant laws.
In his message the chief executive lauded the organizers of the conference and the guests attending it for the ongoing event and referred to the focus placed on dynamic strategies in making decisions on the fourth development plan which requires application of information, particularly the spatial data.
He appreciated the valuable efforts of the specialists and engineers working at Iran's Topography Organization to produce comprehensive nationwide, urban and marine maps, drawing up standards and enforcing them on the domestic scene as well as drawing up national atlas.
The president expressed satisfaction with the performance of the the organization over the past 52 years, particularly during the recent eight years which have produced fruitful results at the national level.
President Khatami's message ended by hoping that holding such conferences will contribute to the national development.
