IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Moscow, Feb 1, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Iran hopes for the development
of space cooperation with Russia, Iranian Ambassador Gholamreza Shafei
said here on Tuesday.
He cited as a successful example of cooperation in this field the
agreement on creation and launching of the first Iranian
communications satellite Zohre.
The agreement was signed in Tehran last week.
"The negotiations were long and ended by the signing of the
document. The project costs 132 million dollars," Shafei emphasized.
According to him, "The Russian side will create and launch the
telecommunications satellite.
"Russian-Iranian cooperation is also developing in the military
and technical sphere," the diplomat pointed out.
Meanwhile, he noted that all negotiations in this field are of
defensive character.
