  • Boeing Rocketdyne Awarded $1.14 Billion Contract for Space Shuttle Engines Boeing 29 Apr 2002 -- NASA has awarded a $1.14 billion contract to Rocketdyne Propulsion & Power, a unit of The Boeing Company [NYSE:BA] to provide maintenance and support to the space shuttle's reusable main engines for the next five years.

  • Lockheed Martin's PAC-3 Missile Intercepts Tactical Ballistic Missile in Operational Test Lockheed Martin 25 Apr 2002 -- A Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Missile successfully intercepted and destroyed an incoming tactical ballistic missile (TBM) target at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., on Thursday. This was the third Operational Test of the PAC-3 system. The PAC-3 Missile destroyed a Patriot-As-A-Target missile.
  • ORBITAL SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHES SUBORBITAL ROCKET FOR U.S. AIR FORCE Orbital Sciences Corp. 25 Apr 2002 -- Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE: ORB) announced today that it successfully launched a suborbital rocket, the Quick Reaction Launch Vehicle (QRLV-2), for the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Detachment 12, Rocket Systems Launch Program (RSLP) Office located at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.
