Bad Weather Delays Genesis Launch Aboard Boeing Delta Rocket

CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, Fla., Aug. 01, 2001 -- At about 12:30 p.m. EDT, officials scrubbed today's launch of a Boeing [NYSE: BA] Delta II rocket carrying NASA's Genesis spacecraft, due to range weather constraint of thick clouds.

A 24-hour turnaround has been initiated. The launch will occur no earlier than Aug. 2, at 12:27 p.m. EDT. Mission managers will meet tonight to determine if the weather will permit a launch on Thursday morning. Contact the Boeing Launch Hotline on 714-896-4770 for continued updates.
