- NASA Orders Additional Launch from Boeing Delta Rocket Program Anniversary year of achievements, orders, launches paves the way for Boeing Delta IV Boeing 21 Dec 2000 -- A decision yesterday made by NASA to exercise an existing contract option to launch the Mars Exploration Rover 2 aboard a Boeing Delta II rocket in 2003 capped a banner year for the Boeing Delta program.
- Lockheed Martin-Built GE-8 Satellite Launched Successfully Lockheed Martin 20 Dec 2000 -- The GE-8 telecommunications satellite, designed and built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems (LMCSS) for GE American Communications (GE Americom), was launched successfully Tuesday evening from Kourou, French Guiana. Lift-off occurred at 4:26 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) aboard an Ariane 5 launch vehicle provided by Arianespace of Evry, France.
- SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF ASTRA 2D Boeing 19 Dec 2000 -- ASTRA 2D, a high-power Boeing 376 satellite built for Société Européenne des Satellites S.A. (SES) of Luxembourg, was successfully launched on board an Ariane 5 rocket from the Guiana Space Center on the northeastern coast of South America.
- ORBITAL AND NORTHROP GRUMMAN TEAM UP TO DESIGN NEW HUMAN SPACE FLIGHT ARCHITECTURES Orbital Sciences Corp. 14 Dec 2000 -- Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE: ORB) and Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Integrated Systems Sector (ISS) jointly announced that the two companies recently signed a wide-ranging teaming agreement to support the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) 2nd Generation Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) program.
- BOEING-BUILT ASTRA 2D SATELLITE READY FOR LAUNCH Boeing 13 Dec 2000 -- ASTRA 2D, a Boeing 376 HP spacecraft built for Société Européenne des Satellites (SES) of Luxembourg, is scheduled for launch on Tuesday, Dec. 19, it was announced by Boeing Satellite Systems, Inc., (BSS), a unit of The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA).
- EROS A1 Commercial Satellite Transmits First Digital Image Israel Aerospace Industries 10 Dec 2000 -- Ben-Gurion International Airport, Israel - 'EROS A1', the first commercial satellite developed and manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries, Ltd. (IAI)/MBT Division, transmitted its first digital image from outer space, four (4) days after it had been launched.

- IAI EROS A1 Commercial Satellite Successfully Launched Israel Aerospace Industries 05 Dec 2000 -- Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel - Israel Aircraft Industries/MBT Division announces the launch of its EROS A1 satellite by the Russian Start-1 launcher.
- Atlas Wraps up 2000 with Successful Launch for USAF and NRO Lockheed Martin 05 Dec 2000 -- An Atlas IIAS rocket successfully launched a National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) spacecraft here this evening from Complex 36, Pad A. Liftoff occurred at 9:47 p.m. EST, followed by successful spacecraft separation from the launch vehicle nearly half an hour later.
- BOEING-BUILT THURAYA SATELLITE COMPLETES INITIAL OPERATIONAL TEST PHASE Boeing 04 Dec 2000 -- In little more than a month following its launch, the Thuraya-1 satellite has successfully completed, its Initial Operational Test (IOT) phase. During IOT, Thuraya's C-band antenna, solar wings, and 12-meter-diameter L-band reflector were deployed and tested, and the first telephone calls on the Thuraya-1 satellite have been completed.

- Massive Lockheed Martin-built solar arrays launched to International Space Station Lockheed Martin 01 Dec 2000 -- The first of four pairs of massive solar arrays for the International Space Station, built at Lockheed Martin Space Systems in Sunnyvale, were launched aboard the space shuttle Endeavour to the International Space Station on November 30, 2000.
