Boeing Launch of Delta III, Orion 3 Satellite Set for Tuesday

CAPE CANAVERAL AIR STATION, Fla., May 03, 1999 -- The Delta launch team is assembled at Cape Canaveral Air Station, Fla., for the Tuesday, May 4, launch of a Boeing Delta III carrying the Orion 3 satellite. The launch window for Tuesday evening spans from 8:56 to 10:04 p.m. EDT. Hughes Space and Communications built the 4 1/2-ton satellite, which Loral Space & Communications will own and operate. The satellite will provide telecommunications services to the Asia-Pacific region.

Live Video Feed and Webcasting

Boeing and Loral will broadcast the launch live at 8:40 p.m. EDT. The Ku-band transmission will be on: Telstar 5, Transponder 3 lower, at 97 degrees West longitude with vertical polarization. The downlink frequency in RF-Band is 11.778 GHz or L-Band 1028 MHz. English audio will be carried on 6.2 MHz left and Korean on 6.8 MHz right.
