Range Operations Returned to 45th Space Wing

CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, FL. – Range Operations Control Center Instrumentation was returned to the 45th Space Wing for use in preparation of the upcoming Delta III launch scheduled for Aug. 26.

The range was released after Titan IVA mishap investigators verified functionality of range equipment which supported the failed Titan mission, and collected and impounded all available Titan IVA mishap evidence from the range resources, according to Maj. Gen. Robert C. Hinson, AIB president.

Range Operation Control Center Instrumentation uses a vast system of optic sites, radar and telemetry sources to track launch vehicles’ flight path and performance.

Hinson said the range was turned over in a timely fashion so as not to impact processing for the Delta III or other future missions.

Accident investigators are continuing to examine possible causes of the Titan IVA mishap.
