Launch Complex 41 Released by Investigators

CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, FL. – Operations at Launch Complex 41 returned to normal after Accident Investigation Board officials released the pad to the 45th Space Wing on Aug. 27.

Release of the pad indicates the investigative teams have collected all available evidence from the site, according to Maj. Gen. Robert C. Hinson, AIB president. The next mission scheduled for Launch Complex 41 is a Titan IVB with a launch date of Dec. 18, 1998.

The Titan IVA self-destructed 40 seconds into launch on Aug. 12. The Titan IVA was carrying a National Reconnaissance Office satellite. The Air Force appointed investigative boards to look into the matter.
