Headquarters 14th Air Force - A-4, Logistics

The Chief of Logistics is responsible for analyzing, developing, coordinating, and reviewing program operation, concept and base support plans; providing logistics/base support expertise during contingencies and crisis action planning; and monitoring/assessing the various logistic/support activities of assigned 14th AF units. The specific duties of the SPACEAF A-4 include:

  • Coordinating and reporting overall logistics/support requirements of COMSPACEAF; maintaining liaison with USSPACECOM/J-4, other USSPACECOM components and other air component commands, AFSPC functional managers and SPACEAF forces;
  • Advising the commander on logistics matters impacting the accomplishment of COMSPACEAF missions;
  • Coordinating and monitor movement of critical SPACEAF forces and equipment;
  • Determining COMSPACEAF host nation support requirements and coordinate with USSPACECOM/J-4;
  • Coordinating agreements for interservice supply and support with components and USCINCSPACE/J-4;
  • Monitoring efforts to resolve logistics shortfalls; monitoring acquisition, transportation, maintenance, modification, relocation and disposal of resources;
  • Ensuring the readiness and deployability of SPACEAF forces; and
  • Assessing 14th AF units for short and long term logistics readiness; monitoring/advocating changes to improve infrastructure; serving as AFSPC lead for scheduling, funding, documenting, conducting, and producing reports on unit Readiness Assessment Visits.

The A-44, Logistics, area works classic logistic and support issues dealing with Civil Engineering, Supply, Fuels, and Transportation.

The A-45, Logistics Plans, area includes the logistics planners and the acquisition officer. They lead A-4 development of OPLAN and CONPLAN logistic annexes, work deployment preparation issues, the A-4 portion of exercises and scheduling, and provide oversight of system sustainability provisioning.
