21st Operations Support Squadron - Weather Flight
The 21st OSS, Weather Flight, (21 OSS/OSW, Peterson AFB CO), provides operational and staff support to the 21st Space Wing, 50th Space Wing at Schriever AFB, Cheyenne Mountain, and Norad. The flight provides weather briefings to the commander in chief of HQ US Space Command (USSPACECOM). The flight Operates two 24-hour, seven-day-a-week forecast functions.
The aviation function provides aircrew briefings for C-21 aircraft assigned to the 21 SW, C-130 aircraft assigned to the 302 AW(AFRES), and numerous transient aircraft.
In addition, the flight provides local resource protection to Peterson AFB, Cheyenne Mountain AS, Schriever AFB, Fort Carson and Air Force Academy on a limited basis.
The NORAD function provides both terrestrial weather and space environmental support to the NORAD Command Director, which includes monitoring the numerous environmental phenomena that could impact space operations, both in space and on the ground worldwide.
