In response to a question about a statement made by the US the previous day, which claimed that 300 tons of precursor chemicals were discovered being shipped from China to a drug trafficking group in Mexico, Chinese FM spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press briefing on Thursday that he was not familiar with the specific situation the reporter mentioned.

"China is the country most resolute in its anti-drug efforts, with the most thorough policies and the best track record. It is also one of the countries with the largest number of regulated substances and the strictest controls in the world. China's anti-drug authorities have always strictly enforced the law to combat the loss of precursor chemicals and ensure that relevant enterprises operate legally and in compliance with regulations," Guo said.

More than 300,000 kilograms of chemicals used to produce methamphetamine and intended for clandistine labs controlled by the Sinaloa Drug Cartel in Mexico were seized this week, according to a statement released by the US Justice Department. It claimed that the chemicals were sent from China.

Guo further stated that the root cause of the drug crisis in the US lies within the country itself, and the key to solving the problem is also in the hands of the US side. The US should face its own issues and take more substantial measures to strengthen domestic regulation and reduce domestic demand, rather than resorting to external remedies while ignoring internal problems, shifting blame, and imposing sanctions indiscriminately, Guo said, adding that China will take all necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens.
