MANILA -- There are no new active cases of avian influenza (AI) in the Philippines based on the latest data from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).

"There were no positive HPAl (highly pathogenic avian influenza) cases reported from the period of May 17 to May 23, 2025," the BAI reported in its latest bulletin Tuesday.

The country also has no ongoing cases after the BAI conducted depopulation, disposal, and disinfection in the last area with active cases among ducks in Mexico, Pampanga.

This was followed by stringent surveillance within a one-kilometer radius last May 9.

"The last recorded HPAI case was on April 30, 2025," the BAI said.

The BAI referred to the HPAI Type A Subtype H5N9 logged in Camaligan, Camarines Sur.

The strain, which was first detected in the country among duck samples, was earlier contained and resolved. (PNA)
