Taipei, March 14 (CNA) Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported 9,860 new domestic cases of COVID-19 and 28 deaths from the disease on Tuesday.
Tuesday marked the sixth consecutive day that daily local new COVID-19 cases remained below 10,000, according to the CECC.
On top of the 9,860 domestic cases reported, Taiwan also added 225 imported cases.
The domestic case number reported Tuesday represented a 8.8-percent decline from the same day a week earlier, according to CECC spokesperson Lo Yi-chun (羅一鈞).
Lo said Taiwan is set to discuss a further relaxation of face mask rules in mid-April after most quarantine requirements are set to be lifted starting March 20 and after the Tomb Sweeping Day holiday in early April.
Under the new epidemic measures, people with mild or asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 will no longer be required to self-isolate, beginning from March 20, according to the CECC.
