Taipei, Feb. 27 (CNA) Taiwan on Monday had its first day with fewer than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases in over 300 days, reporting 7,745 new infections and 44 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The last time Taiwan reported less than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases in a day was April 27, 2022, when there were 8,822 new cases.

The 7,577 new domestic cases reported on Monday represented a drop of 35.8 percent from the same day a week earlier.

To date, Taiwan has recorded 10,033,108 COVID-19 cases and 17,908 deaths from the disease since the pandemic began in early 2020.

The CECC has stopped providing daily information on the age distribution and health status of the deceased as well as the number of vaccine doses they received. It is also no longer releasing daily infection numbers from each of Taiwan's cities and counties.
