Iran rejects presence of al-Qaeda leader in Iran
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Feb 16, 2023
New York, IRNA -- Iranian mission to the United Nations on Thursday refuted claims about the presence of the al-Qaeda leader in Iran.
It said that the global network of al-Qaeda was eradicated after the death of Osama bin Laden and there is no such organization anymore but its radical ideology persists.
Daesh group replaced al-Qaeda and created a new form of terrorism, it added.
Rejecting the US claims about Iran hosting a new al-Qaeda leader, the Iranian mission in the United Nations said that such misinformation can potentially prevent the efforts for a fight against terrorism.
