
Taiwan reports 19,629 new COVID-19 cases, 70 deaths

Taipei, Feb. 10 (CNA) Taiwan on Friday reported 19,629 new cases of COVID-19 and 70 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
The deceased ranged in age from their 40s to their 90s. All but six had underlying health conditions, while 21 of them had not received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, the CECC said.
Also on Friday, the CECC reported 108 new COVID-19 cases classified as moderate and 63 as severe.
Regional breakdown
Regionally, New Taipei recorded the highest number of new cases, with 3,800, followed by Taoyuan with 2,281 and Taichung with 2,278.
Kaohsiung reported 2,231 new cases, Taipei 1,777, Tainan 1,614, Changhua 829, Hsinchu County 641, Pingtung 546, Hsinchu City 473, Miaoli 425, Yunlin 392 and Yilan 390.
Keelung had 367 cases, Nantou 342, Chiayi County 273, Hualien 247, Chiayi City 158, Taitung 132, Penghu 59, Kinmen 51 and the Matsu Islands three.
To date, Taiwan has recorded 9,773,627 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 51,436 classified as imported.
With the 70 deaths reported on Thursday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country rose to 16,964.
