• Chengdu in SW China's Sichuan tightens management to curb the fast spreading of the latest Omicron BA.2.76 flare-up Global Times 30 Aug 2022 -- Chengdu, capital city of Southwest China's Sichuan Province tightened its COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control starting Tuesday by rolling out measures including carrying out citywide nucleic acid testing, suspending operation of entertainment venues and putting off the autumn semester for local schools in a bid to curb the fast spreading of the sudden flare-up started on August 25 in a timely manner.
• Chinese mainland reports 349 new local confirmed COVID cases People's Daily 30 Aug 2022 -- The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 349 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 167 were in Sichuan Province, the National Health Commission said Tuesday.

• Lhasa cuts off community transmission after 20-day battle against COVID-19 Global Times 30 Aug 2022 -- Lhasa, capital of Southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region announced on Monday that the city has essentially cut off community transmission following an effort of more than 20 days against the Omicron variant BA.2.76. The wave of flare-ups broke out on August 7, when 18 positive cases were detected.
• Port city Dalian strengthens prevention and control management amid latest COVID-19 flare-up Global Times 30 Aug 2022 -- Dalian, a port city in Northeast China's Liaoning Province, will further strengthen prevention and control management for five days starting from Tuesday, amid the latest COVID-19 flare-up in the city that started on August 20.

India

• India's Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 212.17 Cr India PIB 30 Aug 2022 -- India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 212.17 Cr (2,12,17,41,962) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,82,59,616 sessions.
• COVID - 19 Vaccination Update - Day 592 India PIB 30 Aug 2022 -- India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 212.37 Crore (2,12,37,06,710) today. More than 18 lakh (18,08,856) Vaccine Doses have been administered till 7 pm today. The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late tonight.
• Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs India PIB 30 Aug 2022 -- The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

• Taiwan reports 31,488 new COVID-19 cases, 27 deaths CNA 30 Aug 2022 -- Taiwan on Tuesday reported 31,488 new cases of COVID-19 and 27 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
