Taipei, March 15 (CNA) The government's 1922 COVID-19 vaccination booking website will begin accepting appointments Wednesday for booster shots to be administered from March 21-27, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The bookings are open to people aged 18 and above who received their second vaccine dose on or before Jan. 2, the CECC said.

Eligible people aged 55 and over will be able to book their booster shots from 10 a.m. Wednesday on the 1922 website, while appointments will be available at noon for those aged 38-54, and at 2 p.m. for anyone aged 18 and over, the CECC said.

The website will stop accepting appointments for this round of bookings at noon Friday.

Around 985,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be available, including 725,000 doses of the Moderna brand, 124,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, 116,000 doses of locally produced Medigen, and 20,000 doses of AstraZeneca, according to the CECC.

Meanwhile, anyone wanting a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine is advised to make appointments directly at hospitals, clinics, and government health centers, as the government website is currently not accepting such bookings, the CECC said.

The CECC has compiled a list of facilities where people can get their first and second doses with most requiring appointments, as well as a separate list of places where walk-in vaccinations are available, though the information is only in Chinese.

To date, 83.21 percent of Taiwan's 23.32 million population has received at least one COVID-19 shot, while 77.68 percent has gotten two doses, CECC data shows.

Since Taiwan began giving third doses last December, 46.92 percent of the population has received a booster shot, and 0.81 percent has been given an additional dose, which is a third shot administered to immunocompromised individuals, according to the data.
