Taipei, March 14 (CNA) Taiwan reported 75 new COVID-19 cases -- two domestically transmitted and 73 that originated abroad -- and no new deaths from the disease on Monday, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

One of the new domestic cases, a Taoyuan resident in his 30s who had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, is connected to a cluster involving a family from the Greater Taipei area, bringing the number of cases in the cluster to six, the CECC said.

The source of the cluster is unknown.

The other domestic case, whose source of infection is also unknown, is a Keelung resident who works as a sales clerk in the Wufenpu market area in Taipei's Xinyi District, the CECC said.

She took a COVID-19 test after developing a sore throat, runny nose, cough, and fever on Sunday, the CECC said, adding that she had received one vaccine dose.

Currently, the CECC is monitoring three clusters and one individual case, all of unknown origin, in Taiwan.

Genome sequencing has been performed on the infected individuals in all three clusters, which shows they were all infected with the same version of the Omicron variant.

In addition to the domestic cases, the CECC also reported 73 imported cases on Monday, 35 of whom were travelers who tested positive on arrival in Taiwan. The CECC did not release any information regarding the vaccination status of the imported cases.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed 21,363 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 15,490 domestically transmitted infections.

With no deaths reported on Monday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remained at 853.
