Taiwan reports no new domestic COVID cases for first time in 2 months

Taipei, March 10 (CNA) Taiwan reported no new domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases for the first time in over two months on Thursday, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

Taiwan last reported zero new domestic cases on Jan. 1, CECC data shows.

The country did report 82 new imported COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 65 of whom were travelers who tested positive on arrival in Taiwan. The CECC did not release any information regarding the vaccination status of the imported cases.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed 21,081 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 15,475 domestically transmitted infections.

With no deaths reported Thursday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remained at 853.
