• China under pressure amid global COVID resurgence, over 40% new cases appearing in surrounding countries and regions Global Times 19 Mar 2022 -- China is facing mounting pressure to guard against imported infections as new confirmed COVID-19 cases have rebounded globally in the past week with more than 40 percent of cases appearing in areas surrounding China, according to China's National Health Commission (NHC) at a press conference on Saturday.
• Anti-COVID fight in Shanghai enters key stage: local health commission director Global Times 19 Mar 2022 -- Shanghai reported record daily COVID-19 infections on Saturday as the local health commission said the city has entered a crucial stage in battling its worst flare-up in two years.
• Chinese mainland reports 2,157 new local COVID-19 cases People's Daily 19 Mar 2022 -- The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 2,157 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, down from 2,388 on Thursday, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

India

• India's Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 181.04 Cr India PIB 19 Mar 2022 -- India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 181.04 Cr (1,81,04,96,924) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,13,51,545 sessions.
• COVID - 19 Vaccination Update - Day 428 India PIB 19 Mar 2022 -- India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 181.19 Crore (1,81,19,31,011) today. More than 13 lakh (13,63,853) Vaccine Doses have been administered till 7 pm today. More than 16 lakh (16,76,515) COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to 12-14 years age group so far. More than 2.17 Crore (2,17,30,449) Precaution Doses for the identified categories of beneficiaries (HCWs, FLWs and Over 60 years) for COVID vaccination have been administered so far. The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late tonight.
• Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs India PIB 19 Mar 2022 -- The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

• COVID-19 kills 72 more Iranians over past 24 hours IRNA 19 Mar 2022 -- The number of deaths from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran increased to 139,550 with 72 more Iranians killed by the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, Iran's Health Ministry announced on Saturday.

• Taiwan reports 120 imported COVID-19 cases, setting new high CNA 19 Mar 2022 -- Taiwan reported on Saturday six new domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases and 120 imported ones, the highest number of cases originating overseas recorded since the pandemic began in early 2020, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
