
Taiwan reports 52 new COVID-19 cases, including 12 domestic

Taipei, Feb. 13 (CNA) Taiwan recorded 52 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, consisting of 12 domestically transmitted cases and 40 that originated abroad, with no new deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
All but one of the new domestic infections were linked to existing clusters, the CECC said.

Eight of the new domestic cases had received two vaccine doses, two had received one dose of either the AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech brand, and two children under the age of 10 had not been vaccinated, according to the CECC.

The figures do not include imported cases reclassified as domestic ones, nor retroactively removed cases. As of Feb. 13, Taiwan recorded 719 domestic and 1,819 imported COVID-19 cases in 2022.
In addition to the domestic cases, Taiwan also reported 40 imported cases on Sunday, 15 of whom tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan. The CECC did not release any information regarding the vaccination status of the imported cases.
To date, Taiwan has confirmed 19,567 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 15,319 domestically transmitted infections.
With no deaths reported on Sunday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the country remains at 851.
