• Two Arrested for Alleged Conspiracy to Launder $4.5 Billion in Stolen Cryptocurrency US Dept. of Justice 08 Feb 2022 -- Two individuals were arrested this morning in Manhattan for an alleged conspiracy to launder cryptocurrency that was stolen during the 2016 hack of Bitfinex, a virtual currency exchange, presently valued at approximately $4.5 billion. Thus far, law enforcement has seized over $3.6 billion in cryptocurrency linked to that hack.
• Cameroon Culls Birds, Erects Barrier Against Bird Flu Outbreak VOA 08 Feb 2022 -- Cameroonian authorities have erected sanitary barriers around poultry farms in the western city of Bafoussam after an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu. Authorities say a "huge" number of birds have died while farmers say they've been forced to cull thousands of chickens.

Schools were originally scheduled to start on February 14. All students are required to carry out self-health monitoring for 14 days before returning to school. A negative nucleic acid test result taken within 48 hours is also required.

• Taiwan reports 48 new COVID-19 cases, including 26 domestic CNA 08 Feb 2022 -- Taiwan on Tuesday recorded 48 new COVID-19 cases, consisting of 26 domestically transmitted cases and 22 that originated abroad, and no new deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
• Four of 26 new domestic COVID-19 cases of unknown origin CNA 08 Feb 2022 -- Taiwan reported 26 new domestic COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, 22 of which were linked to previously reported clusters and four whose infection source is unknown, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said.
