
New domestic COVID case leads to class suspensions for Taoyuan school

Taipei, Jan. 9 (CNA) The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Sunday evening that a family member of a Taoyuan International Airport staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, and the elementary school he attends will suspend in-person classes for 14 days.
The new case, involving a boy under 10 years old, is a family member of an airport worker who handles luggage carts. The boy's case brings the total number of domestic COVID-19 infections linked to the airport reported in the past week to 25.
The school he attends in Taoyuan's Zhongli District will suspend in-person classes for 14 days beginning Monday, according to a notice sent to the parents of the students.
More details on the new case will be disclosed at Monday's CECC press briefing.
