Taipei, Dec. 3 (CNA) Taiwan reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, all contracted overseas, and no new deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The cases involved four Taiwanese and seven foreign nationals in their 20s to 40s, according to the CECC.

Ten of them traveled to Taiwan from the United States, Spain, Italy, Indonesia, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Vietnam between Nov. 18 and Dec. 1, and tested positive for COVID-19 either upon arrival or during their mandatory 14-day quarantines, the CECC said.

The other person to test positive, a Taiwanese woman in her 30s who arrived in Taiwan from Turkey on Oct. 24, took a COVID-19 test on Dec. 1 because she planned to travel abroad, but the test results came back positive, according to the CECC.

Tests she took upon her arrival in late October and during the subsequent 14-day quarantine all came back negative, the CECC said.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed a total of 16,637 COVID-19 cases, of which 14,426 were domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 cases in a single day.

There have only been 123 domestic cases since Aug. 15, however, as daily domestic case numbers have fallen to mostly single digits or zero since then, according to CECC data. The most recent domestic case was reported on Nov. 4.

With Friday's 11 new cases, Taiwan has reported 36 imported cases during the first three days of December, with the total number of imported cases recorded in the country since early 2020 climbing to 1,993.

With no new deaths reported since Nov. 10, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remains at 848, with all but 12 recorded since May 15.
