Taiwan reports 8 new COVID-19 imported cases, zero deaths

Taipei, Nov. 14 (CNA) Taiwan saw eight new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, all contracted overseas, including four breakthrough infections involving people who had been fully vaccinated, and no new deaths from the disease, said the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The eight imported cases include three males and five females, who all arrived in Taiwan between Oct. 31 and Nov. 12.

Four of the individuals arrived from Indonesia, while two of the cases came from Myanmar. The other two people arrived from Malaysia and Vietnam respectively.

Of the four breakthrough infection cases, CECC spokesperson Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥) said that two individuals who came from Indonesia and the sole patient from Malaysia had previously been fully inoculated with two jabs of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine.

The other breakthrough case is an individual, who had gotten two shots of the BNT vaccine in Indonesia.

With no new deaths reported Sunday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remains at 848, with all but 12 recorded since May 15, CECC data showed.
