Taipei, Nov. 6 (CNA) Taiwan reported two new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, both imported, and no new deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The two imported cases involved a Taiwanese woman in her 30s who recently returned from the United States while the other was an Indonesian in his teens who arrived in Taiwan on Nov. 4, the CECC said.

The Taiwanese woman tested positive for COVID-19 in the U.S. in July, CECC spokesperson Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥) said at a daily press briefing.

She returned to Taiwan on Aug. 17 with a negative COVID-19 report from within three days prior to boarding her flight, Chuang said. More recently, she took a self-paid COVID-19 test on Friday ahead of a planned overseas trip and the result came back positive on Saturday.

Her relatively high cycle threshold (CT) value indicated that she was most likely infected while still in the U.S., Chuang said.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian teen tested positive before his mandatory 14-day quarantine, according to the CECC.

With a domestic case reported on Nov. 5 removed, Taiwan reported one locally acquired case -- on Nov. 4 -- and 25 imported cases during the first six days of November.

On Saturday, Chuang said the single domestic COVID-19 case that was reported by the CECC on Friday will be removed from the country's COVID-19 statistics as it was found to be a false positive test result.

That case involved an Indonesian woman in her 30s who has worked in Taiwan for some time. Due to work-related reasons, the woman was tested for COVID-19 on Nov. 1 and Nov. 4, with the second test coming back positive on Friday.

Another test was conducted Friday, and the result came back negative on Saturday, Chuang said.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed a total of 16,438 COVID-19 cases, including 14,426 domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 cases in a single day, CECC data showed.

The most recent death linked to COVID-19 in Taiwan was reported on Oct. 25.

With no new deaths reported Saturday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remains at 847, with all but 12 recorded since May 15, CECC data showed.
