Taiwan reports 5 new COVID-19 cases, no deaths

Taipei, Nov. 1 (CNA) Taiwan reported five new COVID-19 cases on Monday, all of which were imported, with no new deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
The five imported cases were all foreign nationals from Ukraine, Myanmar, Indonesia and Nepal, between their teens and their 40s in age, the CECC said.
They arrived in Taiwan on Oct. 29 and tested positive for COVID-19 either upon arrival or during the mandatory 14-day quarantine period, it added.
To date, Taiwan has confirmed a total of 16,417 COVID-19 cases.
Of these, 14,425 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 cases in a single day, CECC data showed.
Since Aug. 15, however, the daily number of domestic cases has fallen to mostly single digits, totaling 122 since then.
The country's total number of imported cases has risen by 474 during the same period to 1,774, according to CECC data.
With no new deaths reported Monday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remains at 847, with all but 12 recorded since May 15, CECC data showed.
