Taipei, Oct. 4 (CNA) A new round of COVID-19 vaccinations, providing first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT) vaccine and second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, will begin on Oct. 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Monday.

Individuals aged 47 years old and over, in the 12-22 age group, and 18 years old and over in the 9th vaccination category, who registered on the government vaccination website prior to Oct. 6 and listed BNT as one of their choices will be eligible to book their first shot, the CECC said.

In the new round, those in the 18-55 age group who received their first AstraZeneca jab before July 22, as well as individuals aged 56 years old and over who received their first AstraZeneca jab before July 30 will be eligible to make appointments for their second dose, the CECC said at a press briefing.

The website is open for registrations until noon on Oct. 6 and will be open to appointments from 10 a.m. on Oct. 11 to noon on Oct. 13. The vaccination will be administered from Oct. 15-21, according to the CECC.

The CECC also advised members of the public to wait a minimum of seven days between receiving the seasonal flu vaccination, which started on Oct. 1, and a COVID-19 vaccine shot.

Also Monday, Taiwan took delivery of a new batch of 270,000 doses of the BNT COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total number of BNT doses received to 3.32 million, the CECC said.

The latest batch expires on Feb. 10, 2022, it added.
